Biography
Vito A. Lucie, 82, a 2 year resident of Fort Montogomery passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Vito was born on November 5, 1927 in the Bronx, NY to Theresa and Joseph Lucie. He was the youngest of nine children. In 1955 he married Yolanda M. Lucie of the Bronx and relocated to Cortlandt Manor in 1964. Vito was a very proud, disabled U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. For many years Vito was employed by Joseph Lucie Carting Corporation. He was later employed by the Town of Cortlandt Highway Department for almost 20 years.
Vito was known to many as "Bill", "Billy" or "Bubba". He spent many years on bowling leagues. He was an avid fan of the Mets and Buffalo Bills. He was a lover of animals, owning many horses, cats, dogs, birds and fish in his time. Vito loved music, he could often be found dancing and singing everywhere he went. Vito attended classic car shows with his family and owned a Chrysler Lebaron Convertible with his wife. He was an active member of every community he was a part of, including memberships in clubs such as The Moose Club, The Sons of Italy, The Grange, The Town of Cortlandt Seniors, the Rod Benders Car Club and several others.
Vito is survived by his daughter, Theresa M. Young and husband Craig; his son Joseph Walls and wife Connie; his son Bill Walls and wife Shirley; grandchildren: Priscilla and Krystal Young, Kelli Walls, Teri, Brian and Stephan Walls, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his loyal cat, Bootsie. He was predeceased by his loving wife, both parents, brothers: Charles, Louis, Ralph, and Benny, sisters: Josephine, Camille, Agnes, Rosie and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY followed by entombment.
