O'Connor, a lifelong area resident, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. He was 80. Son of the late Charles R. O'Connor, Sr. and the late Catharine Lewis O'Connor, he was born in Newburgh, NY on October 3, 1929.Charles was a rural carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, Mahopac, NY. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Highland Falls, former member of Knights of Columbus, United States Postal Workers Union, and a longtime member of Cornwall Yacht Club. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1948 to 1951. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lucie D. Hering O'Connor, at home, 2 daughters, Theresa Favre and her husband LeRoy of Fort Montgomery, Doris J. Deutsch and her husband Alfred of Savannah, GA, 6 grandchildren, Erik, Erin and Alison Favre, Charles (Michelle) Deutsch, Erika (Travis) Harrell, Ryan Deutsch, 4 great grandchildren, Joseph E. Gleason, Evan H. Deutsch, Morgan T. Harrell, Charles E. Deutsch, 2 sisters, Charlotte Vanzo of Highland Falls, Jane Coundjeris of Oxford, MD and several nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Powell, Cecelia Kehoe, Catharine Graber and Mary Fabritius. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls. Interment will follow in Highland Union Cemetery, Highland Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928. |
