Catherine Irene Thomas of Washingtonville, previously of Highland Falls, passed peacefully at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY, on Monday, January 29, 2018. She was 85 years old.
Catherine retired from Keller U.S. Army Hospital after thirty years in medical records, her last ten years as the Physical Education Board liaison officer. She was a member of the American Medical Records Association; the Civil Service Retirement System; and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She was born in Secaucus, NJ, to Anthony Thomas and Emma Tepe on April 25, 1932. She was a long-time resident of Highland Falls. She was predeceased by her sister Lorraine (Bailey) McCullough.
Survivors include her two daughters: Leah Neumaier, of Frederick, MD; and Kimberly Keefer of Thurmont, MD; grandsons, Adam Gottfried and Alex Keefer, one great-granddaughter, a niece and two nephews.
Friends remember her fondly through her stories of her love of figure skating and ice-dancing.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 am on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Middle Hope, NY.
