Mario L. Vanzetta

June 25, 1977-October 26, 2018

Highland Falls, NY

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce that Mario Lawrence Vanzetta, 41, of Highland Falls, NY unexpectedly entered into rest on Friday, October 26, 2018. He was born in Cold Spring on June 25, 1977 and is the late son of Joseph Vanzetta Jr. and his wife Alena.

Mario is survived by his three precious children: Emma, Mario Jr., and Dominick, whom he shared with their loving mother Stephanie (Helbig) Vanzetta. Survivors include his siblings: Joseph (Trisha) Vanzetta, Nicholas Vanzetta, John (Talena) Vanzetta, Adrienne (Jared) Howell, Amanda (Robert) Macedo, Brandon (Joanne) Calore, Brian (Veronica) Calore, and Lindsey Calore, as well as grandparents: Carmela Vanzetta, and Muriel and Giles Purvis. Mario will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and countless lives of others he touched from around the world.

He graduated James I. O'Neill High School and Saint Thomas Aquinas College with a degree in Criminal Justice. Mario followed in his grandfather's footsteps to begin his professional career proudly employed by the United States Postal Service. He continued his service for the government as a security guard at the United States Mint at West Point before beginning his employment with the Federal Air Marshal Service.

Mario was a devoted family man who enjoyed playing and watching sports (especially softball), hiking, running in the Highland Falls bed races, coaching his children's sports teams, and spending time with family in his beloved hometown.

Mario touched the lives of many people with his tremendous heart and generosity. Those who knew him will remember him for his infectious smile and outgoing personality. Mario could easily brighten a room with his quick witted sense of humor and trademark laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 5th at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday November 6th at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you to honor him by thinking of a cherished memory you have and paying kindness and love forward. Please make a donation in his name to a charity of your choice. May the passing of time bring some peace to our hearts as we deal with this profound loss.
