Helen May Daniels, age 95, of Highland Falls, NY, passed away in her home on Sunday, September 27, 2020, in the morning. Helen was a long time resident at West Point, NY while her husband served in the U.S. Army; after retirement, the couple resided in Highland Falls, NY.
Helen was born in Littleton, NC: She was the oldest of four children born to Usey and Henry Mills. Helen now joins her parents and two of her siblings: Lenwood Mills and Lois Davis in the Heavenly Kingdom. She has one surviving sister, Elizabeth "Blue" Person of Emporia, VA, and she is survived by her loving husband of 76 years, Willie Daniels, Sr. Helen gave birth to seven children: Spencer Mills of CA; Barbara Daniels of MD; Gloria Moss of TX; Willie Daniels, Jr. of TX; Anta Chapoteau of TX; Benjamin Daniels of NY; and Tyron Daniels who predeceased Helen. The family would like to extend a thank you to the gentleman acting as pallbearers: Victor France, II, Bryant Daniels, Jerome Moss, Kyle Cooper, David Moore, & Gregory Giacoio-Kohus, Jr.
Helen enjoyed life! Activities were a major highlight of her day. This could be giving her children or grandchildren an encouraging word during their sporting events, scoring a "turkey" for one of her bowling leagues, wining a card game or yelling "bingo", or simply cheering her favorite horse to victory across the finish line.
Helen attended McIvery High School where she was a member of the basketball team. She was an active member of the Carter Chapter Baptist Church where she loved to praise God. As an adult, she worked in John Hopkins Hospital as an Elevator Operator and then moved to New Port News, VA; where Helen worked in the operating room. It was at that hospital that she met a patient who became her future husband Willie Daniels, Sr.
In respect for covid-19 regulations and the safety of our family and guests, the family regretfully has limited all viewing and burial services to the immediate family.
